~ 'WeAreN'
| N stands for Nazarene (Christian) |
Last year images like this one flooded social media as a way to show solidarity with the Christians facing severe persecution in Mosul, Iraq.
• We must not, however, forget the persecution of Christians even though the plight is no longer trending worldwide on social media. The Islamic State is still brutally attacking, kidnapping, and killing Christians in parts of the Middle East. Only recently IS militants barbarically murdered 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians purely because of their Christian faith which sparked global outcry and condemnation. The Coptic Church has now canonised those Christians as martyrs.
It is further not only in that part of the world that Christians are being persecuted for being Christians. Charities, notably Open Doors, and Christian news outlets are great for highlighting the ongoing issues and reminding us of where we should be praying for and of making us aware of the problems and persecution our brothers and sisters in Christ face around the world. •
Act: Remember to pray for the Christians around the world being persecuted for their faith. Try to pray for them every day for the power of prayer is vast.
We are N. We are still N. We will always be N.
